| Hello brethren! I am pleased to have this opportunity once again to share from the holy scriptures.During my study of the book of Hebrews I came across a verse that has been cause of much thought. It is in Hebrews and it speaks of contentment with ones current possesions. Heb 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you." I was in a southern culture class sometime ago and the proffesor became a great influence on how I view issues of class in society and what role religion plays in the establishment or removal of class structures in the society. With this framework in mind I have been trying to think as to what this verse this really means and what effect it should have on me as I lead my life with the goal of becoming a more christlike individual. In the end after guidance from the true helper who reveals the truth about the word of God I came to the conclusion that the Lord wants me to be motivated by him and not material gain like the rest of the world. In essence the Lord wants me to be worldly usefull and not worldly. This is a great challenge but guess what! it agrees with Jesus teaching that we can only have one master we cannot love God and money. It is either one of the two and not both of them. And as aposlte paul wouldsay to Timothy inhis letter, 1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, in their eagerness to get rich, have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with much pain I pray that the Lord would give us wisdom, strength and patience to count on only him and not mone which is temporary. | | |
| Shalom brethren it is a great pleasure to share the word of God that always renews our spirit. A brother in Christ once advised me not to forget the freshness of salvation. The more I am determined to live for Christ the more I see the sense of his words. Nevertheless in this times of apostasy we must be thankful in all the ways at all times as the Bible advises us to. We must be careful and wary of the 'old man' for he is still capable of falling into sinfull ways and destroying the testimony of Yeshua Messia. God's view of what life is, is foreign to the canal man. The whole idea of a loving creator who is willing to intervene in our lives is foreign to the thinking of the hedonist, atheist and the ritualist. Nonetheless I have alot to be gratefull for, for the word of God came to me in the most unexpected way. I never thought of salvation neither did I ever think pof a supernatural being who was more anxious to reveal the one absolute truth more than I was to find out. The Bible is quick to emphasize the significance of Man identifying with his creator. It speaks of the potter and the pot. It refers to man as the pot and God as the potter from here we see that God communicates his intention of completely and absolutely monopolizing our lives an aspect of his character that makes many people unhappy. From this standpoint we see that man can only find true significance by identifying with his creator. The book of Romans points that believers in the Lord Jesus Christ must never conform to the patterns of this world. Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is that good and pleasing and perfect will of God. It is my hope and prayer that you will form a Christlike identity and not conform to the world. Remember the Lord is always with us if we are willing to focus on him. | | |
